I started reading 'SLAM' by Nick Hornby, which is supposed to be funny and actually very good. Didn't read enough to prove that, but what I read until now isn't bad.
In chapter one Sam, the 16 year old skater, is trying to explain his position in life. His parents divorced, his mom had a friend but broke up (a thing that made him happy), he was getting better and better in skating and he met Alicia (he was really really into her).
Also, he had a poster with the great skater, Tony Hawk, in his room and he used to talk to him and knew what he would answer, because he read his book dozens of times.
But things went too well in his life so obviously it was time for him to go and screw it all up.
